Offspring 2004 (foals)
Ovidius showed moderately sufficient to more than sufficiently developed foals. The foals are more than sufficient riding type and are a little on the forehand.
The Ovidius foals have an expressive head. The poll has sufficient length. The neck comes from deep in the chest. The neck is used well in the trot. The wither has more than sufficient position and development. The shoulder has sufficient position and length. The back is frequently hollow. The loins are shaped well and connected well. The croup varies in length and shape. The hamstring should often be longer. The stance of the foreleg is correct. The stance of the hindleg varies from sickle hocked to frequently straight. The basse varies in development and has good quality.
The walk is pure, has sufficient scope with moderate suppleness. The foals are light footed in the trot. The foreleg is often flat. The hindleg should come underneath with more power. Frequently the foals do not jump into the canter easily. The foals are often flat in the canter.
In short: A uniform group riding type foals that are frequently on the forehand. Development varies from moderately sufficient to more than sufficient. Movement is light. The hindleg should come underneath more strongly.
Of the foals shown, 19 were picked and six were selected by the owner. One sick foal was seen in the stall but not in movement. One foal that was inspected at home fit in with the above picture. The foals that were selected by the owner gave a positive picture in regards to development and movement.
The quality of the mares varied.
