Offspring report
Offspring 2000 (foals)
Optimist showed a collection of sufficiently developed, sufficiently long-lined foals that show extra muscling and a lot of appeal. The foals are overbuilt and sometimes short-legged.
The head is appealing. The poll is good in length and form. The neck is good in length, form and muscling. The wither is moderately developed and generally sufficient in length. The shoulder is sufficient in length but is a little straight. The back is repeatedly hollow, but is well muscled. The loins are well formed and muscled. The croup has sufficient length, is good in placement and well muscled. The hamstring is sufficiently long. The foreleg is a little straight and repeatedly tied in. The hindleg is a little straight. The base is barely sufficient in development and has sufficient quality. The walk is pure and has sufficient scope. The trot is has scope and push from behind. The foreleg is used well. The hindlegs bends well, but the foals carry their neck to high in the trot and hold themselves in the topline. The foals jump easily into the canter. The canter has sufficient scope and a lot of push from behind, but movement should flow a little more through the body.
The quality of the mares was sufficient.
Shown: 16 foals out of 54 breedings.

Performance test report
Conformation Description 1999
Optimist is an appealing, well-developed stallion that stands more than sufficiently in the rectangular model. He has a long shoulder and a well-developed wither. The hindleg is a tad straight. The feet are narrow and the pastern is a little straight.
Performance
Optimist is honest and reliable. He is very willing to work and works adequately. The walk is moderate in scope and suppleness, but it does have tact. Optimist does have adequate scope in the trot. The foreleg is used well, but movement should flow through the body better. The stallion has good scope in the canter and shows good balance. He should bring the hindlegs under the body better while in the basic gaits. The croup stays high. Optimist has adequate aptitude for dressage and gives his rider a sufficient or better feeling.
Optimist has a more than sufficient to good take-off. He jumps back well. The use of the foreleg varies. He should bascule more but he finishes the jump well. At first he was a little stiff through the topline, but this improved strongly as the test went on. Optimist is careful and shows great scope. As a jumper Optimist has more than adequate to a great deal of talent and he gives his rider a good feeling.
Stall and handling behavior is normal.
No veterinary remarks.
