Information for buyers

The KWPN auctions have become a well-established name and have proven to be a highly successful formula. There is worldwide interest in KWPN horses, and once again this year, KWPN horses top the WBFSH Rankings. KWPN horses are renowned for their soundness and have repeatedly proven themselves at the highest level of sport.

All auction foals and horses are evaluated by a KWPN inspector and undergo a veterinary examination. We are happy to answer any specific questions you may have about the collection. In addition, we can assist with arranging transport through Horses2Fly, insurance through Hippo Horse Insurance and suitable rearing facilities if required.

For stallion owners, the KWPN Select Sale provides an excellent opportunity to present their stallion to a broad international audience. Selection takes place during the first round viewing of the KWPN Stallion Show.

• Only stallions that are selected to continue to the second round viewing are eligible for participation in the KWPN Select Sale.
• Entries can be made through the selection committee or via the KWPN.

Registration is possible through the selection committee, consisting of Teus van den Brink, Sjaak van der Lei, Daan Horn, Rom Vermunt and Nico Witte, or by e-mail via salespromotion@kwpn.nl, prior to or during the first round viewing.

The stallions are selected during their presentation at the first round viewing. Following this viewing, dressage stallions are additionally evaluated on the lunge by the selection committee.

After selection, a photo and video day is organised at the KWPN Centre, during which the dressage stallions are professionally presented on the lunge for inclusion in the sales collection.

To bid on a foal or horse, you must first complete a one-time free registration on our website. A KWPN membership is separate from the auction platform; therefore, KWPN members must also register separately, as the login details for MyKWPN are not linked to the KWPN Auctions website.

After registration, you will receive an activation link by e-mail. Once your account has been activated, you can log in and place bids online. When placing a bid, the total costs are shown immediately. If you are outbid, you will automatically receive a notification by e-mail.

In addition to online bidding, telephone bidding is also possible through the KWPN.

On the page of each horse, the current bid and the next minimum bid are displayed. If you hold the highest bid, the current bid button will turn green and display “MY BID”. The next minimum bid will be shown below it.

The auction closes at a predetermined time. If a bid is placed within the final five minutes, the closing time is automatically extended by three minutes. The auction closes definitively once no new bids have been placed for three consecutive minutes.

A buyer’s premium of 10% applies to all purchases.

The foal or horse is awarded to the highest bidder. After the auction has ended, both buyer and seller will receive a confirmation by e-mail, including each other’s contact details.

Invoicing is handled by the KWPN. Once payment has been received, a delivery certificate will be issued to both buyer and seller. After the signed delivery certificate has been returned, the auction proceeds will be paid to the seller within 14 days. This period allows sufficient time to deal carefully with any questions or unforeseen circumstances shortly after delivery.

The foal or horse is awarded to the highest bidder. After the auction has ended, both buyer and seller will receive a confirmation by e-mail, including each other’s contact details.

Delivery and Insurance

Foals may be delivered from the age of five months onwards and, within the Netherlands, are delivered to the buyer by the seller. Older horses are collected by the buyer.

Participating horses and foals are not automatically insured. Our insurance partner, Hippo Horse Insurance, can arrange insurance for both buyers and sellers.
