Horses with a foreign passport must be registered with a Dutch passport issuing organisation (PIO), such as the KWPN, within 30 days. This requirement applies to all horses residing in the Netherlands, regardless of breed or studbook.
Costs
The KWPN charges a fee for processing these registrations in accordance with national regulations. The KWPN checks the foreign passport, registers the horse in the central RVO database and links the identification details to the RVO. A copy of the TRACES certificate or health certificate is required for this purpose. Even when only an import notification is required, the horse must still be registered in the central database.
