Hertog Jan showed a collection of foals with little uniformity but more than sufficient harness-type, sufficient development and more than sufficient to good rectangular-shaped conformation.
The head has good shape but in a few cases could be more attractive.
The poll has very good length and shape.
The neck has very good length and shape.
The neck has good placement and muscling.
The wither has normal development.
The shoulder has good length and placement.
In multiple cases, the back is poorly muscled and weak. In several cases, the back is severely dropped.
The loins have more than sufficient to good muscling.
The croup has sufficient length and placement.
There is sufficient length from the point of the hip to the point of the buttock.
The legs are correct, solid, well developed and of good quality.
The front leg is correct and has good length.
The pasterns are long, and the pastern angle is weak in a few cases.
Hind leg length varies; and in multiple cases, the hind leg is slightly bent.
The hooves are of normal shape and quality.
The walk has good scope but in several cases should be more powerful.
The front leg shows good scope and action.

Hertog Jan can make a positive contribution to harness horse breeding with respect to blood distribution.
