The neck comes out deep from the chest. The legs are tight. The hind leg is regularly straight. Etoulon VDL is a well-developed stallion with good jumper conformation and a slightly downhill body direction. The head is more than sufficiently attractive. The poll has more than sufficient length. The neck has good length, a slight vertical orientation, and good muscling. The wither is well-developed and has more than sufficient length. The shoulder has good length and placement. The back has good length and more than sufficient muscling. The loins are more than sufficiently connected with sufficient muscling. The croup is sloped and has sufficient length and muscling. The front legs are correct. The hind legs are slightly straight. The pasterns are long. The legs are good and of good quality. The hooves are well-developed with low heels.

France's Hubert Bourdy was very successful in the international Grand Prix with Etoulon VDL's sire Toulon (Heartbreaker x Jokinal de Bornival), who was also a successful breeding stallion. He has several Grand Prix offspring. Etoulon VDL is out of the elite mare Utareusa (s.Calvados). Her dam Brigitte, a Le Mexico daughter, earned the ster, preferent, and prestatie predicates. Brigitte's offspring include a ZZ-level jumper by Burggraaf. Etoulon VDL's great-granddam Terusa, a ster preferent prestatie mare, is by the English Thoroughbred Lucky Boy xx. Terusa is also the dam of the international jumpers Illusion (s.Calvados) and Oteusi (s.Burggraaf). The dam-line continues with the ster mare Jereusi (s.Duc de Normandie) and the ster kern mare Tereusi (s.Luitenant).
