A uniform collection of well developed riding type foals with good rectangular-shaped conformation. The trot is powerful, big, and supple. The foals transition to the canter easily. The canter shows good suppleness, balance, and more than sufficient stride length.

Zapatero VDL can improve conformation, particularly that of the forehand. He can also contribute reflexes and jumping technique.
