Contendro I, who is 17 years old, is a son of the inflential Holsteiner sporthorse sire Contender. Contendro I's dam Bravo is an exceptionally successful broodmare by Reichsgraf (Rinaldo-G.Ramiro Z x Landgraf I). Bravo is also the dam of Contendro I's full-brother, Contendro II; Cassito (s.Cassiano); and Caretano Z (s.Caretino). This third offspring Bravo, Caretano Z, boasts an impressive list of achievements, first as an international show jumper under Jos Lansink and later as a breeding stallion. Contendro I's granddam Ofarim is by Rasputin (G.Ramiro Z x Ramzes) out of Holle, a daughter of the English Thoroughbred Tin Rod xx. The dam-line continues with Ute, a Ramzes daughter. Notably, the leading sire Ramzes appears five times in Contendro I's pedigree.
Contendro I had a short sport career and has mainly been used for breeding. His offspring are exceptionally convincing. In 2013, he held 10th place in the WBFSH sire ranking among top jumper breeding stallions. His most notable offspring include Codex One (ds. Glueckspilz), ridden by Christian Ahlmann; Constantin B (ds. Espri), ridden by Hans-Dieter Dreher; Hello Annie (ds. For Pleasure), ridden by Scott Brash; and Callahan (ds. For Pleasure), ridden by Gerco Schröder.
Conformation Description
Contendro I is a well-developed stallion with more than sufficient rectangular-shaped conformation and a downhill body direction.
The head is attractive.
The poll has good length.
The neck has vertical placement, good length, and heavy muscling. It comes out deep from the chest.
The wither is well developed and has more than sufficient length.
The shoulder has good length and placement.
The back has more than sufficient length and muscling but is dropped. The stallion was 17 years old at the time of evaluation.
The loins have good muscling and are well connected.
De croup is short but has good placement and muscling.
The line from the point of the hip to the point of the buttock is long.
The front legs are correct when viewed from the side but slightly toed-in when viewed from the front.
The hind leg is slightly straight.
The front pasterns are long and somewhat weak.
The hooves are well developed, with good shape and quality.
The legs are well developed and of good quality.
The walk is active with more than sufficient scope.
The trot has more than sufficient scope and push.
