Offspring report

Offspring 2004 (foals)
Special-D showed richly developed foals that stand in good rectangular model. The foals are riding type, long legged and have much refinement.
The Special-D foals have an expressive, sometimes long head. The poll has good length. The neck is long and well shaped. Once in a while there is a slight ewe neck. The wither is more than sufficient in length and should be more developed. The shoulder has sufficient position and length. The back has good length, muscling and is nicely connected. Sometimes the loins are a little tight. The croup is sometimes short and flat. The gaskin is sometimes poorly muscled. The hamstring should sometimes be longer. The foreleg is sometimes toed in and sometimes under the body. The stance of the hindleg is correct, sometimes a little sickle hocked. Sometimes transition to the cannon is not smooth. The base has quality but should be more developed.
The walk is pure and has more than sufficient scope. The foals use the hindleg strongly in the trot and have much impulsion and are uphill. In some cases there should be more freedom in the shoulder. The Special-D foals jump easily into the canter. The scope in the canter is sufficient. Sometimes the croup stays a little high.
In short: a uniform collection of long-legged foals that stand in good rectangular model. The foals have an appealing front. The hamstring should be longer. They show good use of the hindleg during movement, the foreleg should have more freedom in the shoulder.
There were 18 picked foals and five foals selected by the owner shown. Two foals were inspected at home. The one foal fit in with the above picture. The other foal deviated negatively from the above in regards to charisma and muscling of the neck and back.
The quality of the mares varied.
Shown: 23 (+2) foals out of 255 mares that were bred in 2003.
Terminology used in scoring:
Moderate = five, sufficient = six, more than sufficient = seven, good = 8.
