Offspring report

Offspring 2004 (foals)
Solitair showed richly developed foals that stand in good rectangular model. The foals are riding type and are charming.
The Solitair foals have an expressive head. The poll has good length. The neck is long, well shaped and is used well during movement. The wither is sufficiently developed. The shoulder has good position, in some cases they should be longer. The back has more than sufficient length, in some cases it is a little weak. The loins are sufficiently muscled. The croup has good shape, sometimes it is a little short. The hamstring is more than sufficient in length. The foreleg is long and the stance is correct. The hindleg is a bit long with a poorly muscled gaskin. The base seems a little fragile. The hocks should be finished better.
The walk is pure and has good scope and suppleness. The foals move with much self-carriage and sufficient suppleness. The use of the foreleg is nice. The hindleg should come underneath more. The Solitair foals jump easily into the canter with more than sufficient self-carriage.
In Short: A uniform group of richly developed riding type foals that stand in good rectangular model. The foals can walk good. They have good use of the foreleg in the trot but should bring the hindleg underneath the body more resolutely. The foals have good use of the body during movement. The base is fragile and in a few cases should be better finished.
Eighteen picked foals were shown. The owner did not select any foals. Two foals were inspected at home. One fit in the above picture. The other deviated, especially in development.
Shown: 18 (+2) foals out of 367 mares that were bred in 2003.
Terminology used in scoring:
Moderate = five, sufficient = six, more than sufficient = seven, good = 8.
