Offspring report
Offspring 2002 (foals)
Riverman showed a uniform collection of more than sufficiently developed, riding type foals that stand in good rectangular model and that are refined.
The head is expressive. The poll has good shape and good length. The neck, which also has good length, often comes from deep out of the chest but otherwise it is shaped well. The neck is used well in movement. The wither has good length and is more than sufficiently developed. The shoulder has good length and sufficient position. The back is generally well formed. The loins are long and should be better connected. The croup has sufficient length and position and is well muscled. The hamstring should be longer. The foreleg often has a straight pastern. The hindleg is generally long and behind the body. The base has good circumference and good quality.
The walk is pure and has sufficient scope. The hindleg should come further under the body. The trot has sufficient scope and more than sufficient self carriage. The hindleg should be brought underneath better. The canter has moderate to sufficient scope, moderate balance and moderate suppleness. The foreleg remains stiff.
Remarks: Of the foals that were shown, 18 were picked and the 6 were selected by the owner. These selected foals fit in with the above picture. One of the shown foals was irregular and another was lame. Two foals that were inspected at home had fairly short legs and otherwise fit in with the above picture in regards to movement.
The quality of the mares was very good.
Shown: 24 foals (+2) out of 167 mares that were bred in 2001.
