Offspring report
Offspring 2000 (foals)
The collection of Opan foals was sufficiently uniform, moderately to sufficiently developed and in moderate condition. The foals are of sufficient riding type but sometimes have short legs and they should have more expression. The shape of the head is normal and it should be more expressive. The poll has sufficient length and shape. The neck has good length but poor muscling, it is vertical and the transition to the wither should be smoother. The development of the wither varies but it is more than sufficient in length. The shoulder has sufficient length and position. The back and loins are sufficient in length and muscling. The sufficiently muscled croup generally slopes but it should be longer. The hamstring is sufficient in length. The stance of the foreleg is generally good, however there are several cases where the foreleg is toed out. The hindleg is frequently a little long. The legs range from delicate to coarse in the case of a few foals. The walk is big but not always pure. The bend of the hindleg is moderate. The trot has sufficient scope but is moderate to sufficient in suppleness. The neck is carried too high in the trot and the foreleg remains stiff. The hindleg has more than sufficient thrust and is brought sufficiently underneath. The canter has sufficient scope but moderate suppleness. The foals are somewhat stiff and the foreleg stays flat.
No veterinary remarks.
On the average the mares were of moderate qualities.
Shown: 14 foals out of 24 breedings.
