Offspring report

Offspring 1999 (foals)
Uniform collection of foals. The development ranged from insufficient to more than sufficient. Generally they are in more than sufficient rectangular model and are tuig type. They are appealing when they move but they should be more so when they are stood up. The head varies from expressive to a little long. Sometimes the profile is convex. The poll has good length but the throatlatch should be finer. The neck has good length and direction but is deep from the chest and some foals have a ewe-neck. The wither should generally be more developed. The shoulder should be longer. The slope of the shoulder is more than sufficient. The back/loin formation is generally a little weak and sometimes poorly muscled. The somewhat straight croup should be longer. The hamstring is more than sufficient in length. The foreleg is generally correct but should generally be longer. The hindleg varies from straight to a little sickle-hocked. The legs are more than sufficient in development. The walk is a little short, moderate in power and stiff. The foals make very much front in the trot. The action in the foreleg varies from more than sufficient to good but the hindleg should be brought underneath more and should carry more. The moment of suspension is long. The selected foals showed better use of the hindleg and good posture. The quality of the mares varied.
Shown: 14 foals out of 40 breedings.

Performance Ermelo 1998
Honest, reliable, very willing to work and works well. The walk is sufficient in scope. He shows much posture in front of the show cart. He comes back nicely in the front but pushes the back away and stays a little high in the croup. He shows high action in the foreleg with much scope. The moment of suspension is sufficiently long. The hindleg has sufficient impulsion but should be brought underneath more and should be more powerful and quicker. He has much desire to go. He has sufficient talent for harness and gives his driver a good feeling.
Stall behavior is normal.
During the first month of the test he was bothered by a chronic cough and cold. Medication was necessary. Ultimately he got well. He needed work on his hind feet.
