Offspring report
Offspring (Belgian), 1993:
The Stallion Selection Committee also inspected offspring (7 foals, 3 yearlings) by the stallion in Belgium. The offspring are well developed. Type varies from sufficient to good. The body is remarkably good. The head could have more expression. Standing, the neck has a forward orientation; in motion, the neck is raised well. The shoulder has sufficient length but should be a bit more sloped. The wither varies in length and development. The back is well muscled but often slightly deep. The croup has very strong muscling but sometimes could be a bit longer. The legs are correct and well developed, with strong joints. The cannon bone ties into the hock remarkably well. The walk varies from sufficient to good. The trot has rhythm and elasticity, but the hind leg should step under the body more energetically.
Offspring (foals) in 1994:
This Belgian-born stallion with French blood showed a collection of uniform foals. They are well developed and long-lined, with sufficient riding type. There is little difference between the randomly selected foals and those selected by the stallion's registered party. The first group needs more nobility, while the foals selected by the stallion's registered party are more attractive with better riding type and more nobility. The head of the randomly selected foals is long and coarse. Although the foals selected by the stallion's registered party have a more expressive head, it is still long. The neck has good muscling and sufficient length. Sometimes the neck is a bit straight. The wither has sufficient length and development. The shoulder is long but needs more slope. The back/loin is well defined with good muscling. The croup has sufficient length, good shape, and excellent muscling. The front leg is correct with excellent development. The hind leg is often straight. The legs have good bone. The walk has good scope. The trot is big and rhythmic, but the hind leg should step farther under the body. The front leg is sometimes a bit flat. The quality of the dams ranged from average to very good. The stallion should be bred to mares with ample "blood." Veterinary findings concern several cases of moderately developed hooves.
Short summary: well-developed foals with sufficient riding type and big movement. Foals shown: 16 out of 78 breedings.
