Offspring report

Offspring 1993 (foals)
This Trakehner stallion showed well developed foals of the riding type and that show refinement. The head is well formed and expressive. The neck is extra long, has much poll and in general is carried high during movement. The neck should have a smoother connection to the shoulder/wither. The wither is sufficiently developed and extends a long way into the back. The shoulder has sufficient length and placement. The back and loin formation don"t give cause for any remarks. The croup has sufficient length but several foals should have a longer hamstring. The foreleg is correct. On the whole the joints are sufficiently developed; the cannon is almost always long. The walk is good. The trot has scope, ease, shows tact and rises in the front but the hindleg is often slow in coming underneath and should also develop more carrying power. The movement of the trot should also flow through the body more. In general the stallion had good to very good mares.
The veterinary remarks pertained to three instances in which the stance of the foot deviated.
In short: well developed, riding type foals with refinement that had a big, easy and tactful trot which rose in the front, but where the hindleg was often slow in coming underneath.
Shown: 16 foals out of 66 breedings.
1997
Approval maintained. On the grounds of the evaluation of his 3-year old offspring, Balzflug will maintain his approval in the breeding program.

Performance test report

1989
Hengstleistungsprüfung Warendorf (Germany)
129.85 points, 2nd of 21 participants.
Performance Ermelo 1992 (19-day short test)
The first week of the test he was very tense and gave the impression that he had not been ridden well. During the course of the three weeks of the test he relaxed more and his gaits clearly improved. The walk is sufficient in scope but sometimes not pure. Sometimes the left hindleg has a shorter stride. He has a spectacular trot: light on his feet, good use of the foreleg and he carries himself extremely well. Furthermore the trot has good scope and suppleness but the hindleg should come underneath more. The canter has sufficient scope and power but has less suppleness than the trot and should be more carried. He has much talent for dressage: he is eager to learn and puts effort into it. During the jumping he made a good effort going over low jumps and showed sufficient leg technique but is stiff through the topline. He has good character. No stall vices were observed.
