Offspring 1991 (foals)
This stallion showed a collection of foals that varied in type and development. Some of the foals were barely sufficient in regards to development, some were sufficient and a few were well developed. They are of sufficient riding type but several are that short-coupled (especially among the picked foals) while others are short and round. The selected foals had much better type. The head ranges from sufficient to long; some have expression and some don"t. The neck is well formed, has good length and is used well in movement. The wither is sufficiently long and developed. The picked foals often have a straight shoulder; the selected foals have a shoulder that is longer with better placement. The topline sometimes is weak generally the loins are well connected. The croup is well formed, sloping and muscled, but the hamstring should be much longer because it causes the gaskin to look inadequate. The foreleg is consistently poor and tied in under the knee. The stance of the hindleg ranges from straight to sickle-hocked. The hock is often short and shallow and should be finished more tightly; the transition to the cannon is often sharp. The walk has moderate power and looks stiff; the selected foals had a better walk. The trot is characterized by good rise in the front with sufficient scope but the hindleg should come underneath more.
The veterinary remarks concern the legs, which should be more solid. One foal that was inspected at home fit in with the above picture.
In short: a varied collection of barely sufficient to well developed foals. The type varies from sufficient to good. There were remarks made about the base. In the trot the hindleg should come under the body more.
