Offspring report

Offspring 1989
Cabochon showed sufficiently developed foals. The group of picked foals appeared to be varied in regards to type, from moderate riding type to sufficient. The group of selected foals was sufficient in riding type. The selected foals formed a much more uniform group that the others. The head is well formed and shows expression. The neck set of the picked foals was not ideal. The neck came from deep in the chest in several cases and there was an indentation in front of the wither. The selected foals were clearly better. The wither is well developed and is long. The shoulder seemed a little short and straight in the picked foals; no remark needs to be made for the selected foals in regards to length and placement. Back and loin formation are well muscled and formed. The croup has good form and length, even though the pick foals sometimes have a flat croup. The foreleg is pretty correct but should have more substance. Several times the knee was a little tied in. The hindleg is correct. The hock is not always ideal and was a bit coarse in a few cases. The selected foals were less so. The walk is always good with good scope, power and regularity. The trot was good for both groups, with a lot of balance, tact and regularity and good rise in the front.
In short: sufficiently developed foals that should be more typey, but that have a strong movement mechanism.
Shown: 10 foals out of 23 breedings.

Performance test report

Performance 1987 (tied for 15th place)
Friendly, obedient, attentive, happy, honest and rather lazy with an excellent humor. He was green at the beginning of the test. He has a lot of bravura at the beginning of the each day, after this is over he holds back. He collects well and gives his rider a nice feeling. He was longed a few times because he could not be ridden for a few days due to a skin infection. Movements are big and light. The walk is industrious but should have more power. The trot is nice, big and measured. The canter is well carried and full of tact. He shows moderate ability and little suppleness in jumping, He does not use his back well. His cross-country performance is nothing to write home about. He is sufficiently willing to work and the work is easy for him. He has a great deal of talent for dressage, moderate to sufficient talent for cross-country and moderate talent for dressage. He was a little poor upon arrival, received more feed than normal and became more horse. He is calm in his stall.
