Performance report

Offspring report

Offspring 1986 (foals)
The foals by this stallion are well developed. They are sufficient riding type and have a good front. The head is long but does have sufficient expression. The shape and length of the neck are good. The wither is sufficiently long but should be a little more developed. The placement and length of the shoulder are good. The foals are generally long in the back and the loins get pushed back a little. The muscling of the topline is good otherwise. The croup is often a little straight and could also be longer. The foreleg is often fine in the cannon while the knee also should be more developed. The hindleg is correct but should also be sturdier. The legs do have quality, though the hock is a bit knobby sometimes. The walk has sufficient scope but a little stiff in the use of both the pastern and the hock. The foals trot easily with sufficient scope but should come underneath more. The uniform group of foals came with good mares.
In short: sufficient riding type foals, somewhat long in the topline, with a big, easy trot that did not come underneath strongly.
Shown: 13 foals out of 38 breedings.

Performance test report

Performance Ermelo 1984 (the late final)
Balanced, obedient, friendly and honest with good humor. He was green at the start of the test. In the beginning he was fun to ride. When more was asked of him the moderate use of his hindleg and the lack of elasticity became apparent and he was less fun to ride. He was rather wooden with little power. The walk is regular with sufficient scope. The trot is regular but lacks the necessary power. The canter has sufficient scope but with a rather straight hindleg. He has a good eye on the jump in free jumping. He is difficult to collect when jumping under saddle. He alternates good and less good jumps. He has a good gallop in cross-country. He was rather tense in front of the sled. He was very willing to work in the beginning, this became less so later on but did remain sufficient. He has sufficient talent for dressage and jumping and more than sufficient talent for cross-country. He was well fed upon arrival but lost some weight during the test. He got more feed than normal. Stall behavior is calm.
On 5/07 he got a crack in his hoof, which caused him to be lame. On 5/09 he got shoes in front. Because of persistent lameness he went for examination at the University of Utrecht on 5/30. On 6/06 he went home for a couple of months. On 8/28 he resumed the test. He did have shoes in front at this time and had no further problems.
