Offspring report

Offspring 1985 (foals)
The foals by this stallion are remarkably well developed. The collection that was shown was very riding type. The collection was comprised of long lined foals with sufficient quality. The collection was very uniform. The head is lean, well formed and shows a great deal of expression. The long, well-formed and well-carried neck evolves into a long poll. The well-developed wither is long. The shoulder placement and development is good, with a rare exception, when the shoulder is bit straight. The well-muscled back sometimes is a bit long. The croup/loin/back connection is good. The croup is well formed and strongly muscled with a long hamstring. The foreleg is well positioned and has a well-developed knee. The hindleg also has a strong joint, is well formed but often a little long. In general the legs should have even more appeal, especially in the pastern. The walk has suppleness but should come a little more from the shoulder. The trot has a great deal of scope, suppleness and cadence but should be more powerful behind. Most of the mares with the foals were of good quality. All available foals were shown.
Though only eight foals were shown the stallion committee, making use of their freedom, decided that this stallion did not need to show more foals to complete the number required. The quality of the foals is sufficiently convincing that eventual additions would not change the impression.
Shown: 8 foals out of 18 breedings.

Performance test report

Performance Ermelo 1983
Phlegmatic, steady, does not show off. Obedient, friendly, honest with good humor. He was saddle broke when he arrived. At first he did not use his back much nor did he bend the knee and hock much. This improved later on, he then went with a lot of rhythm and regularity. He goes rather wide behind, especially in the canter. He has an active walk with a lot of impulsion. The walk is big and regular. The trot has sufficient regularity but should have more scope. The canter is big and regular. He changes often in the canter. He has a lot of technique and scope in jumping as well as a good eye for the jump. He is skillful in cross-country. He is good in front of the sled. He is sufficiently willing to work and finds the work easy. He has much talent for dressage and cross-country and very much talent for jumping. He was fat when he arrived and this did not change much. Stall behavior is calm.
