Two times a year the KWPN stallion committee evaluates which internationally known stallions will be considered for the status of individually erkende stallion. In order to be considered for this a stallion must expressly have proven himself at the highest levels of international sport, either with their own performance or with that of their offspring, or a combination of the two. Individually erkende stallions to not expressly have to meet the KWPN requirements in regards to well being (radiographs and endoscopy). Offspring of erkende stallions will be registered in the Foalbook.
The gray Holsteiner bred stallion Cardento and rider Peter Eriksson jump at the highest levels of sport under the Swedish flag. The pair has placed high in various championships (including Gera, Aarhus, Rome and Ikast). Cardento, height 170.0 cm, has also been valuable for the Swedish team in nation"s competitions: he earned silver at the Athens Olympic Games, silver at the European Championships in Arnhem and silver at the World Championships in Jerez de Frontera.
The stallion meanwhile has made a breakthrough in the Swedish breeding program where he has a high jumping index.
