Offspring report

Offspring (German), 1991:
The stallion was born in 1972. In 1988, the WPN committee viewed offspring by the stallion and arrived at the following conclusion: the shortcomings of the offspring did not compensate for their above average results. Although most of the offspring show quite a lot of "blood," they often don't have enough nobility. A few also fall short with respect to type. In addition, the same objections regarding the stallion's movement as described in his report from 1988 were also noted in almost all his offspring. Now, in 1991, the stallion has been approved for 50 breedings, mainly because he ranks first in the jumping index of the 1990 yearbook, which includes stallions active from 1975-1978. In the newest index, calculated on all German studbooks and all birth years, Grannus ranks sixth, based in part on the outstanding performances of the above-mentioned horses. Incidentally, the 50 breedings to Grannus have already been reserved.
Offspring (foals) 1992:
This Oldenburg stallion, who was approved for semen import, showed a group of foals with little uniformity. With respect to development, the foals range from barely sufficient to sufficient. They also vary in type from compact and short-legged to sufficiently long-lined. The head has sufficient shape and is sufficiently attractive. The neck has sufficient shape and length but is sometimes slightly deep; however, it is carried well in motion. The wither is well developed and long. The shoulder varies, from straight and steep to long and sloped. No comments on the back and loin. The croup is well muscled but generally should be longer; and it is sometimes slightly flat. The front- and hind leg are correct, with sufficient quality. The walk is sufficient. The foals often trot with a flat front leg and show little shoulder freedom, while the hind leg develops power but trails behind. The stallion was generally bred to good mares. Veterinary findings concern two instances of a filled hock. Foals shown: 15 out of 53 breedings.
Information, 1992 (foal report):
Grannus has been approved for semen import based on the proven excellence of his offspring in international show jumping. His Dutch-born offspring also have the opportunity to excel in international show jumping.
Offspring, January 1997 (3-year-olds):
Based on the evaluation/report on Grannus's 3-year-old offspring, the stallion has been retained for KWPN breeding.
