Offspring report

Offspring 1983 (foals)
Triton, who caries a lot of thoroughbred blood, showed a uniform collection of good to very well developed foals. The foals made a nice picture of forward build types with refinement, hardness and quality. The heads are hard, lean and well formed. In general the neck has good shape and muscling, a few are deep from the chest and/or a little heavy. The wither is well developed and has good length. The shoulder placement and length are excellent. The back is good and the loins are well connected. Most of the foals have a well-formed, long and muscled croup. With a few exceptions the foreleg is poor, often tied in under the knee with a fine build. The pastern is often long and the stance is a little weak. Several of the feet should be more developed. The hindleg is mostly long, with a small angle in the hock. The bone quality of the legs is generally good. The walk is good with suppleness and scope. The trot is noticeably elastic, light with sufficient scope. The power from the hindquarter could be improved upon. The foals should carry more in the trot. In general the foals were with good mares.
Shown: 10 foals out of 19 breedings.

Performance test report

Performance Ermelo 1981
He was in good condition upon arrival and lost weight during the test. Honest, friendly, obedient stallion with good humor. He is attentive and pretty courageous. He was tense each day at the start of the work. When he relaxed he was fun to work. He holds himself well while under saddle. He has a lot of power. The walk has sufficient scope and regularity but he does not follow through well from behind. The trot lacks scope and is not very regular. He jumps with good use of the back but a rather straight hindleg. The technique of the foreleg could also be improved upon. He has a good eye for the jump, a lot of suppleness and scope. He jumps back well. He did really well in cross-country. He has an excellent gallop. He was rather tense in front of the sled. He likes to go and is playful with his ears. He is very willing to work and enjoys it. It is easy for him. He has sufficient talent for dressage, much talent for jumping and very much talent for cross- country. There are no remarks on stall behavior.
Both hindlegs have curbs. At the start of the test he was sensitive to percussion of the sesamoid bones on both forelegs. He had a positive reaction to flexion tests of the feet of the forelegs. Radiographs did not show anything worth noting.
