Short summary: a uniform collection of well-developed riding-type foals with good rectangular-shaped conformation. The foals move with abundant body use and an attractive forehand. The collection included 14 foals selected by the KWPN, two of which were absent due to injury. These foals were inspected at their home location and are consistent with the findings described in this report. The foals were presented on sand footing. The quality of the dams was average. Foals shown: 12 (+2) of 68 out of mares bred in 2006. The scoring protocol used is as follows: moderate: 5; sufficient: 6; more than sufficient: 7; good: 8. Breeding recommendation, 2007: Harley-VDL can contribute good reflexes and willingness to jumper breeding. The stallion can also improve conformation and movement. He is best bred to mares with more than sufficient development. The breeding recommendation is based on the performance test and the foal inspection.
At the 2015 KWPN Stallion Show in 's-Hertogenbosch, Harley VDL was awarded the keur predicate.
Fourteen-year-old Harley VDL is a Heartbreaker son out of the Carthago mare Larthago, who competed at the 1.50m level under Matthijs van Asten. Like his dam, Harley VDL was a very successful international show jumper, under Ireland's Jessica Kurten. The combination's achievements include winning the VHO Trophy at the 2011 KWPN Stallion Show. Harley VDL was awarded the keur predicate in the presence of his son Early, the winner of the five-year-old division in the 2014 FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses in Lanaken. Early (d.Zardenta prok by Indorado) accompanied his sire under his regular rider Maikel van Mierlo. Also present at Harley VDL's award ceremony was his breeder Tinus van der Bruggen of Poppel, his son and, of course, the Van de Lageweg family, with whom the stallion began his successful career. Harley VDL is also a convincing breeding stallion. Half of the mares bred to him have earned at least the ster predicate. The stallion passes on a convincing canter and good jumping talent with excellent reflexes. Last fall, his first son was approved for KWPN breeding: five-year-old Everto (ds.Candillo), who was also bred by Tinus van der Bruggen. The stallion's oldest offspring are competing at the 1.45m / 1.50m level, among them Arlando (ds.Animo) with Roelof Bril and Bonjovina Vera (ds.No Limit) under Germany's Marc Bettinger. With a sport breeding value of 147 with 86% reliability, Harley VDL more than meets requirements for the keur predicate.
