A ster mare that is presented at the Central Inspection before she has completed an IBOP or EPTM, or before she has performed at the required level in sport, may receive the designation voorlopig keur. This status is sometimes considered a predicate, but this is not correct. A mare that is designated voorlopig keur at the Central Inspection retains the predicate ster until she meets the additional requirements under saddle or in harness.

Harness Horse Mares

A different system applies to harness horse mares. They can be awarded the predicate ster directly at the Central Inspection and do not have a voorlopig keur status or higher conformation requirements. A harness horse ster mare that successfully completes the aptitude test or achieves sufficient sport performance is then upgraded to keur mare.

Keur Predicate for Mares

The keur predicate, as described above, is exclusively intended for mares in all breeding directions. Approved KWPN stallions can also be declared keur, but entirely different requirements apply to them than to mares.
