A horse with the ster predicate has proven to possess a functional and correctly built conformation, preferably with breed type, presence, and an appealing appearance. In addition, the horse must demonstrate sufficient natural ability for sport. The ster predicate therefore represents a functional and athletic sport horse. Jumping horses, dressage horses, and Gelder horses are assessed in the arena during the studbook inspection.

  • For the jumping horse, in addition to conformation, it is assessed whether the horse has sufficiently good basic gaits and above-average jumping ability.
  • The dressage horse is more uphill built and shows three correct basic gaits, combined with good posture and balance.
  • For the Gelder horse, the emphasis is on a correctly aligned and strong foundation and a cooperative, willing character. The three basic gaits and posture are also assessed. The owner may also choose to have the horse evaluated for jumping.
  • Harness horses are presented in hand. The main conformation difference compared to the other breeding directions is the vertically carried neck. A correctly built harness horse shows clear breed type and presence. For harness horses, the ster predicate is a quality label indicating that the horse clearly stands out in conformation and movement.
