The preferent predicate indicates that a mare has proven herself in breeding. A mare with this predicate has produced offspring that have performed well at inspections and possess good conformation and sufficient aptitude. The preferent predicate is therefore an important quality indicator for broodmares.

A mare earns the preferent predicate when at least three of her offspring:

  • Have obtained the ster, keur, or elite predicate at an inspection, or
  • Have been selected for the second round viewing within the KWPN stallion selection

If an offspring is approved by a KWPN-recognized studbook, this also counts towards the preferent status of the dam.

Stallions

Different requirements apply to stallions for the preferent predicate.
