If a mare has the status voorlopig keur, the keur predicate is the next step. Only ster mares are eligible for elevation to this predicate. When a mare is declared keur, this replaces the ster predicate. The keur predicate indicates that the mare is of an even higher quality. To obtain the keur predicate, in all breeding directions the mare must either have successfully completed an IBOP or EPTM (EPTM does not apply to harness horses), or have reached a defined level in sport. The mare must therefore have performed sufficiently either under saddle or in harness. In doing so, she demonstrates that she meets the breeding objective at an appropriate level: sport.
Central Inspection
Jumping horses, dressage horses, and Gelder horses are also presented again in hand to the jury at the Central Inspection. Conformation is reassessed, as well as walk and trot in hand. For jumping horses, it is not so much the scope of movement that is decisive, but rather the use of the body and the functionality of the movement. The scores from the studbook inspection for canter, and for jumping horses also for jumping, are considered. If the horse has already achieved sport results, this may positively influence the evaluation. The keur predicate is awarded within the frameworks and guidelines of the KWPN and underlines the proven quality of the mare, both in conformation and in performance.
