Via MijnKWPN kunnen leden de hengstenkeuze voor hun merrie onderbouwen door te kijken naar de verwantschap tussen merrie en hengst. De inteelttool toont per hengst het verwachte inteeltpercentage van het mogelijke veulen. Deze informatie helpt om combinaties te kiezen die bijdragen aan een gezonde, brede genetische basis binnen de fokrichting. De tool is beschikbaar voor merries van minimaal drie jaar oud.

Hoe werkt het?

  • Ga in MijnKWPN naar de merrie waarvoor u een berekening wilt maken.
  • Kies de optie ‘Inteeltberekening’.
  • Selecteer de fokrichting waarin u het toekomstige veulen wilt registreren.
  • Kies vervolgens de fokrichting waaruit u hengsten wilt bekijken.
  • U krijgt dan een lijst met alle goedgekeurde en erkende hengsten binnen die fokrichting, inclusief:
    • het inteeltpercentage van het mogelijke veulen
    • sorteeropties zoals naam of inteeltpercentage

Het KWPN adviseert om bij de meeste combinaties onder de 5% inteelt te blijven. Hogere percentages duiden op nauwere familiebanden, wat de kans op erfelijke problemen vergroot.

Verwantschapspercentage

Naast het inteeltpercentage toont de tool ook het verwantschapspercentage. Dit geeft aan hoe uniek een veulen genetisch is binnen de gekozen populatie.

  • Lager percentage = unieker binnen de fokrichting
  • Hoger percentage = dichter bij de gemiddelde populatie

Dit helpt fokkers om bewust met genetische spreiding om te gaan.

Virtuele stamboom

Bij iedere hengst kunt u via het plusicoon de virtuele stamboom van het mogelijke veulen openen. Hiermee ziet u in één oogopslag welke voorouders bijdragen aan het verwachte inteeltpercentage. U kunt ook hengsten uit een andere fokrichting selecteren. Bijvoorbeeld: een Gelderse merrie kan worden gecombineerd met een dressuur- of tuigpaardhengst. De tool toont dan het inteelt- en verwantschapspercentage ten opzichte van de populatie waarin het veulen wordt geregistreerd.

Via “MyKWPN,” members can support their stallion choice for a mare by evaluating the relatedness between mare and stallion. The inbreeding tool shows, for each stallion, the expected inbreeding percentage of the potential foal. This information helps in selecting combinations that contribute to a healthy and broad genetic base within the breeding direction. The tool is available for mares of at least three years old.

How does it work?

  • Go to “MyKWPN” and select the mare for which you want to make a calculation.
  • Choose the option “Inbreeding calculation.”
  • Select the breeding direction in which you want to register the future foal.
  • Then choose the breeding direction from which you want to view stallions.

You will then see a list of all approved and recognized stallions within that breeding direction, including:

  • the inbreeding percentage of the potential foal;
  • sorting options such as name or inbreeding percentage.

The KWPN advises keeping inbreeding below 5% for most combinations. Higher percentages indicate closer family relationships, which increases the risk of hereditary issues.

Relatedness percentage
In addition to the inbreeding percentage, the tool also shows the relatedness percentage. This indicates how genetically unique a foal is within the chosen population.

  • Lower percentage = more unique within the breeding direction
  • Higher percentage = closer to the average population

This helps breeders make informed decisions about genetic diversity.

Virtual pedigree
For each stallion, you can open the virtual pedigree of the potential foal via the plus icon. This allows you to quickly see which ancestors contribute to the expected inbreeding percentage.

You can also select stallions from a different breeding direction. For example, a Gelder mare can be combined with a dressage or harness stallion. The tool will then show the inbreeding and relatedness percentages relative to the population in which the foal will be registered.

Costs
The costs for applying for the genomic breeding value test (D-OC) can be found in the tariff list on the KWPN website. For horses not originally registered with the KWPN, a surcharge may apply. This surcharge is waived once the horse is entered into the KWPN studbook.

Discount with foal registration
If you apply for the genomic breeding value test when registering your showjumping or dressage foal, you will receive a discount. This discount remains valid as long as the hair sample has not yet been sent for parentage verification. You can apply during foal registration via “My KWPN,” or at a later stage, provided this condition is still met.
