The KWPN registers horses in two books (the foal book and the studbook) and in two registers (Register A and Register B). Every foal that is presented for registration and can be entered according to the regulations is assigned a breeding direction. Within that breeding direction, the foal is recorded in the foal book, Register A, or Register B.
Sire’s breeding direction usually decisive
The breeding direction of the sire is usually decisive for the breeding direction of the foal. For the breeding directions harness horse and Gelder horse, specific requirements regarding pedigree also apply.
Registration scheme and studbook entry
The registration scheme (available under Regulations) shows in which book or register a foal is entered.
